Come and Take It

October 2, 1835 the first shots of the Texas Revolution were fired less than 10 miles from this courthouse. The Battle of Gonzales was short and militarily insignificant but its political impact was massive. It seems to me that the Gonzales Flag is more popular today than ever. I can’t help but wonder how those Texian revolutionaries would fell about the flag’s modern day political uses but I digress…

The courthouse square busy with people gearing up for the city’s annual Come and Take It festival. It’s a beautiful old courthouse that looks great from the air.
